My mother and I have amassed knitting patterns, sewing patterns and vintage buttons into quite the impressive collection. Dozens of knitting patterns, hundreds of sewing patterns and thousands of buttons have all been sorted, cateqorised and filed and are now available to you. It’s a daunting task, to get them listed here, but they need new homes. I hope you the selections.

Full description

Here is a pattern for a lovely buttoned up waistcoat or, if you prefer, a sleeveless cardigan.

It is knitted in the very easy ‘moss’ stitch. I have to say that ‘moss’ stitch is my very favourite knitting style. ‘Moss’ stitch holds the shape of the garment perfectly. It gives a very neat finish with just a hint of a bobble pattern. Again, just like lots of designs of the 1980’s, there is no need of decreasing the stitches for an arm hole – just keep knitting straight up to the shoulder seam and you have very slight cap sleeves.

The waistcoat is perfect for that little extra warmth that may be needed during the winter, but with the addition of style. I'd make a few of these in various colours.

The pattern is sized for bust 32 - 38in, 81 - 97cm.

This is a paper knitting pattern from Richard Poppleton produced around the mid 1980's, it is not a PDF.

Soon I’ll be listing my thousands of buttons, ranging from the 1920’s to the 1980’s, in the section ‘Vintage Buttons, Mostly’.

I do not carry wool in my shop, neither do I have any connections to anyone who could provide the wool. This pattern is over 30 years old but, like any pattern (old or new) you can choose your own wools to use, just be sure to check the tension advised in the pattern. If you're unsure, take the pattern to a yarn shop, or haberdashery shop and ask their advice - they will be able to help you.
