Needle felted using beige woollen fibres over a core wool base, this swedish style tomte has been sculpted into shape using a barbed felting needle. He has a bulbous flesh coloured nose and a white curly beard. Three flowers made using antique brass effect petals with red beaded centres adorn his hat.
The tomte stands approximately 14cm (5.5") high
Originating in Scandanavia, the tomte (swedish), nisse (danish/norwegian) or tonttu (finnish) is a mythological creature from Nordic folklore. Similar to a gnome in appearance, according to legend they will protect the family and animals from evil and misfortune although if insulted they may play tricks or steal items! Nowadays, they are usually associated with the winter solstice and the Christmas season but are loved and displayed all year round.
Listed in Seconds Sunday as an end of line item/clearance item.
Please note: this is a decoration/collectors item and is not intended as a toy. It may contain loose woollen fibres and small parts that could present a choking risk to a young child.
