The wild character of the Peak District with its windswept moors, rugged gritstone tors and escarpments provides a welcome escape from our towns and cities, a vital space to breathe and reflect. My work is inspired by the sketches I make and the photos I take while I'm walking there. I often go back to the same places, trying to capture the energy and changing mood of the landscape, whatever the season.
Spending time reconnecting with nature is key to our mental and physical well-being. With my art, I want you to be able to bring a little bit of the quiet drama of the moors into your home, to remind you of the calm and happiness that you find there.

White Tor, Derwent Edge
Unframed A4 original landscape art, conte crayon on paper.
Conte crayon drawing inspired by White Tor and the Coach and Horses (aka Wheelstones) rock formation on Derwent Edge above Ladybower and the sunken villages of Ashopton and Derwent, near to Bamford in the Hope Valley. I took a long walk up there recently and was figuratively blown away by it's bleak beauty, and almost literally by the wind!
This original art would make the perfect gift for someone who appreciates the beauty of the Peak District, or moody mountain and moorland landscapes. The rugged, windswept landscapes of the Dark Peak are very popular area with dog walkers, mountain bikers and ramblers from the surrounding areas of the Hope Valley and Sheffield as well as climbers drawn to the Peak District's famous gritstone crags from much further afield!
This is an original using conte crayon on 300gsm smooth watercolour paper.
