Inspired by my love of the North Norfolk coast and oystercatchers I enjoy working with different fibres and use the colours and textures of the natural environment to inform my making of the silk paper. The textile is well-padded with a generous amount of various shades of merino wool, silk fibres and a sprinkling of glistening angelina.

Full description
I created this handmade silk paper seascape by fusing natural fibres including string, silk rods and merino wool together. The two oystercatchers are carefully embroidered by hand onto the paper.
The finished textile art comes framed within a shabby chic box picture frame.
I recreate this seascape scene in other art works however because each piece is handmade there are always variations in the background makeup and the positioning and shape of the oystercatchers.
It takes about thirty minutes to create the silk paper. The embroidery work takes approximately around two hours to finish.
- Frame measures 7 inches by 5 inches approximately with a depth of 3cm. Internal depth is just over 1cm
