After watching The Blue Planet, I like most people was shocked about how much plastic waste we as a species are producing, this led me to look at how much we as a family were producing and what I could do to change our habits. I realised that we were guilty of often shopping without taking a bag with us and that in order to rectify this we needed a bag that was small enough to keep in a pocket and strong enough to carry a grocery shop. I looked back in time to the pre plastic bag era and rediscovered the string bag, which fulfils the need to be both compact and sturdy. We now only use our string bags and have not bought a plastic bag since, my friends and family all now own at least one bag, so gradually we are doing are bit. We have all had a lot of compliments about these bags and I am now offering the for sale.
