Full description
These poppy studs are made from anodised aluminium which I have dyed red and hand drawn the design in the middle of the flowers. I make the dye and ink permanent by heating the metal so that the colour becomes part of the metal. The poppy shapes have been cut by hand using a piercing saw and filed to give a smooth finish. Finally I have domed the poppies inwards to give a more flower like shape.
The poppies measure approximately 13mm x 13mm and have sterling silver ear posts. It is not possible to solder aluminium so the studs thread through the flowers and are held on to the earlobe by the pressure from the butterfly fixing at the back.
