Children's Tote Bag "Algy on his Raft"

Description

Printed tote bag, with the same image on both sides, made from a strong woven polyester fabric, fully lined with plain black polyester, and with very strong black cotton webbing straps.

One for the kiddies (young and old...), this makes a delightful and unusual gift :-)

Size approx. 12 1/2" (310mm) square, with a bottom of width approx. 2 1/2" (60mm) across, and 1" (25mm) wide straps hanging approx. 12 1/2" (310mm) down from the shoulder.

This cheerful bag features a bright printed illustration of Algy, a surprisingly fluffy bird, adrift on his raft in the middle of the ocean, singing sea shanties at the top of his voice. The illustration appears in the first book in the Adventures of Algy series, "A Surprisingly Fluffy Bird".

This image is also available on a matching zipped canvas purse and a greetings card.

Inspiration

Algy is a unique and surprisingly fluffy bird - and the hero of my series of illustrated children's chapter books "Tales from the Adventures of Algy".

Algy is a real puppet, and this illustration from Algy's first book "A Surprisingly Fluffy Bird" was drawn from a photograph of Algy genuinely afloat on a real upturned orange crate in Sanna Bay.

Algy's adventures started on Tumblr with a long series of photo posts featuring Algy in the local West Highland landscape, his reflections on life, and quotations from poetry, which Algy loves... In due course Algy found his way into a series of children's chapter books, set on the wild west coast of the Scottish Highlands where I live, and featuring a cast of local wildlife characters.

The original illustration from which this card is reproduced was created with Winsor and Newton professional watercolour paints and watercolour sticks, and Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer watercolour pencils on Fabriano Artistico HP watercolour paper.
