What's a Collagraph?
A collagraph is an assemblage of various materials (textured papers, plaster, plastics, fabric) and these are glued onto a printing plate, which is usually cardboard or hardboard.
The plate is then sealed using shellac / varnish and left to dry. Once the plate is dry it is ready to be inked up using oil or water based ink.
Dampened paper is prepared and place on top of the inked plate. It then goes through a printing press. The paper is then carefully lifted off the plate to reveal the collagraph printed image.
