Pangolins are stunning and so vulnerable due to trafficking for their scales and meat, I hope this piece can remind people of their existence and their right to keep existing.

Full description
This piece has been such a labour of love for me. From spending countless car boot sales searching for the necklaces I used for the scales to deciding what friend to give her. I've added a photo of my work process to give you a look into the birth of this piece.
I started by sculpting the head out of cotton, giving her large glass eyes and her characteristic strange ears. I then sewed on the scales and then painted her with several layers of watery paint to build up depth and varnished her nose. I thought she looked to much like a trophy (horrible thought!) so I made her a pair of hands. And the process of finding her this right friend you can see in the photo. The butterfly I also made out of cotton and wire and paint.
This piece comes in three pieces and sits straight on the wall. She is lovely and will certainly add to any wall as well as starting conversations about the wonderful animal the pangolin is and the horrible threats they face.
The piece measures about 30cm from top of butterfly to top of claws (this will obviously be affected if the gap between head and paws change.
This is a totally unique, handmade piece of textile art. I cut all my work free hand and without any patterns, it makes work more exciting and the result is always one of a kind. Thank you for looking and let me know if you have any questions. x
