Full description
I have only recently become enchanted by the possibilities that wood can offer to the world of jewellery. Compared with making furniture and other large items, I have found that working with wood at this scale opens the eyes to a different world: the micro-beauty of wood.
When I opened up this log of beech, I marvelled at the patterning that Mother Nature had created in it. For that reason, I have crafted this memory stick somewhat bigger than most commercially made ones so as not to waste any of its magical artwork.
I do favour a finish that allows the ‘treeness’ of the material to show through rather than a glossy varnish and most of what I have on sale feature an oil and/or hard wax finish.
Superstitious?
…then with a wooden memory stick, you can always ‘Touch Wood’!
Not strictly jewellery, but this would not look out of place as a really chunky pendant. It’s made from spalted beech and has 1 Gigabyte of memory.. 1 GB will accept anything between 250 and 1000 photographs depending on quality settings.
The memory stick measures about 3.25" x 1.5" x 0.5" and is fitted with a leather thong. It could be attached to a keyring. Despite its size, It fitted the four different computers in which I have tried it.
