The image on the sun with a face has been common in many countries over the centuries and is known as "The Sun in Splendour" or "The Sun in his Glory".
The image was used as a badge by Edward II, and later by Edward IV and also had been used as the image of the Roman god Sol Invictus. The image is shown on the national flags of Uruguay and Argentina and is known as "The Sun of May". It is also used as a heraldic device in the arms of the towns of Armstrong, Canada, Banbury and East Devon in England.

This bright and beautiful wall plaque is hand-made from durable stoneware clay, and is a great way to add interest and meaning to your home. It can be used for indoor or outdoor decoration.
The plaque is fired to a high temperature, which ensures it is frost- and weather-proof. It measures 25cm (9.75 inches) in diameter. The plaque is decorated in rose red, yellow and orange colours to highlight the detailed texture and carving.
