I attended an evening performance at the Minack. The weather was calm, the moon shone over the sea, the sound of the waves at the bottom of the cliff made it a unique experience. The audience were all well wrapped up, sipping hot drinks (and I suspect the odd nip) and were sharing their picnics around. I was given a delicious piece of Victoria Sandwich cake by the lady next to me. The performance wasn't half bad either!

Full description

The Minack, a unique open air theatre in Cornwall is perched high on the cliff with tiered seating like an amphitheatre. Many performances are in the evening and then the atmosphere becomes magical. You can take a blanket to keep your knees warm and many of the audience take picnics!

Minack was built by a lady called Rowena Cade with help from her gardener in 1931/32. It overlooks Porthcurno beach and the sight of passing dolphins can upstage the odd theatrical performance!

The prints featured here are wood engravings. I engraved onto endgrain blocks made of box, pear or lemonwood and print the blocks using a vintage Farley cylinder proofing press. I've had prints accepted into the Society of Wood Engravers annual touring exhibition and the Wood Engravers Network (USA), very prestigious and attracting engravers worldwide. I'm deeply honoured to be included.

'Minack' was printed as an edition of 25 and the image size is 12.7cm high x 8.8 cm wide. It was printed by hand using a Farley proof press onto Sunome Senaka paper.

THIS LISTING IS FOR ONE PRINT IN THE EDITION ONLY. The print you receive will be good quality and as similar to the one pictured as is possible using a hand-printing technique. It is not supplied mounted or framed.

The print will be safely packed in a clear plastic sleeve and posted in a stout card envelope.

Postage is FREE by second class post.
