The popular belief about St Valentine is that he was a 3rd century priest from Rome; Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men made bad soldiers. Valentine felt this was unfair, and arranged marriages in secret. When Claudius found out, Valentine was thrown in jail and sentenced to death.
He fell in love with the jailer's daughter and when he was taken to be executed on 14 February , he sent her a love letter signed "from your Valentine".

I have hammered flat copper heart shapes.They hang from handmade sterling silver earhooks, which are soldered closed so that you do not lose your heart!
The dangle is about 31mm from where the earring goes into the ear. I have designed them so that the heart drops down from the bottom of the earlobe and there isn't a long dangle.
Posted first class in a good quality cardboard box with black, velvet insert and tied with a bit of red ribbon, ready to give.
