Description
A sterling silver hammered bangle set with a handmade flamework glass bead. The wire is bent and curved to emulate the passage of water in the Conwy Valley Estuary. This is a striking bangle that always attracts admirers.
Inspiration
I live in North Wales near Conwy and enjoy the delights of the Conwy river, sea and mountains every single day. The river causes amazing patterns in the mudflats with each tidal change, these images are used to inspire this bangle. When I was learning to make lamp-work I took to styles of bead that worked on the effect of heat on the glass. Unfortunately having spent ages getting the beads how I wanted them some broke in the kiln. Disappointed I wanted to still use the beads so I put them back in the kiln and made them slump to soften the edges, so here is the result. A neat cabochon bead that I can set into silver. This may have started as an accident but now I do it deliberately!
