This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique. It's also an example of fusion as in the cenre is a heart which I fused in my kiln.
A brand new design for New Year 2018. I had a rather lovely heart I'd just fused in my kiln and an idea for a design with a smaller heart at the centre of a bigger patchworked heart. This is the result. I hope you like it.
The slightly streaky red fused heart is 5.5 x 4.5cm and is topped with a design of delicately coloured amber and gold dichroic.
The outer patchwork heart is composed of a mix of reds and ambers in deeper shades which are continued into the borders with paler shades to make a rectangular plaque.
It is 13.5 x 12.5 cm and hangs from a silver coloured little chain which is securely attached to the top at either sides. I've enclosed it in a twisted wire border for neatness and strength.
.It looks wonderful hanging in the window, catching the sun.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass. In this case the fused heart is absolutely unique. A one off, the next of this design will contain a completely different central heart.
All photos are of this piece.
New Year, New Idea and a fused heart looking for a home.
I'd made a couple of hearts in my kiln for another project but changed my mind so decided to include one in this new design.
This is the second of this design. The previous one was paler to match the decoration of the fused heart in the centre. Must fuse some more hearts so I can make other colour options.
