I love the freedom of crochet that enables you to work different shapes and structures. For this mandala circle I chose to use overlay stitches as this adds texture and depth. The inspiration for my latest collection has come from candy canes. These sweets are quite prominent at this time of year and with their bold primary colours, I played around with various stripe and swirl patterns.
I came across some metal hoops that are traditionally used to make wreaths, but I thought would lend itself perfectly for a larger wall hanging.
I wanted to make a dramatic piece that would make a bold statement that could be incorporated into a room, or to complete festive decorations.
