This has been a labour of love!

When I came by this chaise, it was feeling very sorry for itself. I wish it was possible to share more photos to show you the whole refurb process.

I stripped it right back to the frame and then sanded that down too. Normally, I like to let wood speak with its own voice, but I wanted an elegant finish for this piece, and the natural wood was a hotchpotch of different shades and grains. I chose to stain it with a black ash stain/varnish.

I splashed out on a luxurious, high quality gold velvet for the upholstery, but decided to add a bit of colour and audacity with brightly coloured hand covered buttons.

The original had plastic plugs in the screw holes. I decided those had to go, and repeated the covered button theme there too.
