Bespoke weathervane featuring the iconic ERA racing car of the 1930s. Created in 316 'Marine' grade stainless steel for a long corrosion resistant life.
Built to my own unique design and not available anywhere else, the ERA design was completed by hand and includes details that help to capture the essence of this historic machine. The finished design was laser cut from 3 mm thick stainless steel sheet.
Final assembly and finishing is completed by me in my own workshop upon receiving your order.
The direction arrow features art deco inspired head and tail and the upper assembly pivots on a point contact bearing giving a smooth response in only a light breeze.
The cardinal markers feature art deco style lettering, the diameter across the cardinal arms is approx. 500 mm. The arrow measures approx. 700 mm from tip to tail and the silhouette has a wheelbase of approx. 300 mm.
The centre post is machined from solid 1/2" diameter stainless steel and extends approximately 630 mm below the cardinal arms.
The whole assembly weighs approx. 5 kg.
Supplied complete with a bracket that allows the weathervane to be mounted to a vertical surface such as post, pergola, or the gable end of a garden structure such as shed, summerhouse or garage.
We do not recommend that it is mounted higher than 4 to 5 metres. If you wish to mount higher I can supply a more substantial centre post and bracket.
Custom designs possible. Please contact for further info.
A life long passion for vintage cars and engineering. Nothing beats the sound of an un-silenced supercharged ERA engine. Here in Lincolnshire I'm just a few miles from Bourne where the cars were created by the famous pre war racing driver Raymond Mays.
