This framed work is part of a series exploring the history of Denmark Hill in
South London. The composition is formed from fragments of historical photographs of the Denmark Hill area. These shapes have been worked into a study exploring complimentary colour relationships. This is a gouache painting frame mounted with white textured mount board In a wood and glass frame. The frame measures 45 (h) x 25 (w) cm.
I was working on a collection of pieces exploring the history of Denmark Hill and collected a series of old postcards and photographs from the 19th and 20th century. The subsequent pieces - including this one - are based only on small fragments of the photographs. These shapes and lines then formed the basis for an interesting colourful composition.
