A naturally elegant pendant, handmade from Scottish beach pottery collected on the shores of Fife. The unique pattern is a natural stain, most likely rust occuring due to interaction with metal and sea water.
Pendant size: 3.4 x 2.2 cm
The piece is complemented by the subtle shine of the copper snake chain, which is fastened with a hook-and-eye clasp.
Worthwhile Pursuits was born out of a very personal need to create space for the meaningful things in life: craftsmanship, storytelling and walks on the beach. It is an acknowledgment that true beauty often lies in simplicity and imperfection.
My jewellery is created through the unique interaction of the sea and the remnants of pottery, which produces most unexpected and charming results. The pieces, crafted by the elements, are hand-finished in my local studio in rural Fife.
My aim is to create jewellery which tells a story of the artistry of ordinary men and women, who created and decorated these ceramics as part of a thriving pottery industry in the 19th and 20th century. My work celebrates their creation, embracing it in its new form. I favour the pared down aesthetic, allowing the understated elegance of each piece to speak for itself.
