Hares are steeped in myth and folklore in Britain. They are also rather elusive - I live in the Lake District yet have only seen them a handful of times. For most of the year hares are nocturnal. However, in the spring they often come out in the daytime to chase and box each other. They are very much a creature that lives in the shadows, and that always fascinated me.
I wanted to make a slightly different hare pendant so I thought I would put two hares together under the light of a full moon. I wanted to incorporate stones into my design as, like hares, they are also steeped in myth. For this pendant I decided that Mr & Mrs Hare would be sitting beneath a glittering star with amethyst at its core. Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz, and it is the birthstone of February. Amethyst is sometimes known as the sobriety stone and is thought to protect against drunkeness! It is also a calming stone and is thought to offer protection to people who are travelling.

UK postage for items under £50 will be sent by Royal Mail Signed For 1st Class. Items worth £50 and over will be sent by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Buyers are responsible for the postage costs of returned non-faulty items. Returned items must be sent by an insured, tracked and signed for service.

Mr & Mrs Hare are sitting together in the light of a full moon gazing up at a beautiful silver and amethyst star.
I love hares, but wanted to make a slightly different version, so I decided to put a male and female hare together under the watchful gaze of a heavenly star.
I cut the hares from sterling silver sheet and soldered them to a leaf textured sterling silver disc to represent a summer full moon. I hand cut and textured the star and then set a beautiful deep purple amethyst into the centre.
The pendant is hallmarked on the back by the London Assay Office with a full UK hallmark, including my makers mark (LS), and is approximately 4.5 cm long and 3.75 cm wide.

The pendant will come packaged in a high-quality black box embossed with my logo in silver.
Amethyst is the birthstone for February and is also associated with 4th, 6th and 17th wedding anniversaries.
