Metal Monarch Butterfly hand crafted in my workshop.

The butterfly is approximately 11cm wide from wing tip to wing tip, 3.5 cm high and 8cm from the tips of its antenna to the back of the wing.

The butterfly wings are hand cut from mild steel and shaped. The body is made from steel bar that has been turned to shape it in to the butterfly body and the legs and antenna are made from wire. After assemble the butterfly is hand painted in enamel paint to create the distinctive orange and black colour on the upper side of the wings, with a paler grey and black on the underside of the wings.

As every part of the creative process is performed by hand each butterfly is slightly different in shape, colour and patterning, thus making every sculpture special and unique.
