These gorgeous cyanotypes are created on the riverbank of the river Derwent using plants and flowers around me. When the wind caught the the plants it created an ethereal sense of movement and a natural effect on the image.
My process involved using the sun to develop the image, and even used the river water. This process is so in touch with nature that you may even find the odd stain of a plant or mud in the image, which enhances the image and connects it with the process.
The image is mounted but not framed, to keep postage down and so you can choose a frame to match your home.
Inspired by nature and natural materials, my sunography cyanotypes are inspired purely by the outdoor world. The shapes that natural plants and flowers create as the wind ruffles them or the shadows the sun casts on their leaves and petals. Capturing a snapshot (around 5-10 mins) of the plants movement and shapes really connects the art to the environment and our natural world.
