This shop only sells in the UK. I print cards onto a sustainable English acid free, archival watercolour paper, prepared for digital print on both sides, so I can print a custom greeting inside; although cards are blank inside unless you request printed text inside. They are packed in compostable clear bags. Prints are on digital fine art papers. I specialise in hand sewing silk and natural fibres for apparel. I often re-use packaging to send you your orders.

If you want a product which is listed as unavailable or sold out, or you want to order more cards or prints than are listed in stock, please click on Contact above this announcement to send me a message and I will let you know if it is still in stock and/or if I can make more. I can usually make more cards quickly, up to 20 in a few days. For larger quantities I will let you know how soon I can make them for you.

Please contact me if you want a postage upgrade or if you need products sent quickly.

I imported this Eri silk from India when I was asked to design an oufit for 3 fashion shows for Croydon Eco Expo in 2008, the show was called Waste Not Want Not. I designed a re-usable wedding outfit: a long sleevless dress with square neck, short coat, stole and tunic. All be worn again so not a wasted wedding outfit.

The silk from the Eri moth is spun so it does not really have a slub texture because it has a soft spun weave. It was woven by tribes in India who work on wild silk farms to preserve this unusual silk and it was made with care for the environment. The cocoon of the Eri moth is an odd shape so it is not used for commercial silk production because when the moth exits the cocoon the silk fibres break. So the silk cannot be reeled it has to be spun because the threads are broken.

There was some silk left over after I had designed and made the wedding outfit so I have been using it up to make bows etc which are completely hand sewn.

Full description

Is it dark ivory or cream? This silk double hair bow is sewn onto a metal hair slide and hand decorated with some tatting on the edges as well as a pearl effect button sewn to the middle of the bow. I made this bow from Eri silk. It is an Indian wild silk that is quite unusual and eco - see inspiration. This silk weave is quite smooth and has a little crispness to it.

The bow measures approximately 18 cm wide x 7.5 cm deep. Centre band approximately 3.5 cm

a one-off bow
