This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
An Australian map with the states in different colours of the rainbow. Tasmania is a little turquoise heart bead dangling from a tiny chain. You could also see this as I Love Australia.
I have taken a little artistic licence with its distance from the mainland.
I've used different textures of glass to give the suncatcher movement.
It hangs from a silvery chain which is securely attached at the top by soldered wire rings.
The suncatcher is lovely in its simplicity and would make an unusual and beautiful present, especially of course for someone with OZ connections.
It looks super hanging in the window where it shines and catches the light and is 14cm wide and 11 cm high.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass.
The 5th photo is of the previous suncatcher I made to this design so you can see that they are different even though to the same pattern.
I attended a Summer Fair where the theme is "Down Under" so I thought it would be appropriate to have for sale a map of Australia. When I counted the number of states and therefore glass sections i realised it could be made in Rainbow colours which always look good.
I sold that first Australia at the fair and added it to my catalogue. This is my 7th .
I've included an Australian postal option for this piece as at least two have understandably found their way there.
