Even a remnant of humble net deserves another shot at a more decorative life. I was offered this by a friend as it was on its way to the fabric scrap bag and thought it was too lovely to not reincarnate as lighting. I love the subtlety of the texture created by the natural tones of the wool and the crisper white of the net combined. And when illuminated? Well, that's one of the aspects about a lot of my lighting - the big reveal when the light is switched on. It's like a little Ta-Da!

Who said lacy net curtains had had their day? When they're reborn as Fairy Lights you can forgive them for their past. Through the process of wet felting, the wool fibres are drawn through the open lace to create a single sheet of tactile fabric, which is then cut and mounted onto each of the 20 warm white LED bulbs. These lights are designed with 2 different sides - one displays the lace, the other is a felted disc of Icelandic wool and shimmering veins of bamboo fibre.
By day the lights look fresh with a subtle texture. When illuminated, the lace design is revealed and highlighted by the warm light that radiates through the wool. These lights are so adaptable they could live in any room in the house, whether hung as a long chain, or tumbled en masse for a radiant focal point.
The felted discs are hot glued around each bulb. The LED bulbs produce no heat and the chain is battery operated, so can be safely displayed anywhere. The clear chain is just over 2m in length with approximately 8cm between lights and a distance of 30cm to a compact white battery compartment. They will require 2xAA batteries (not included). Each disc is 5cm in diameter and no two are the same.
The lights are presented in a brown ribbed Kraft box with layers of natural tissue paper. This will be double boxed for posting and sent First Class, requiring a signature upon delivery.
