An iconic football moment is captured in this classic book cover poster.
This edition depicts Gareth McAuley's headed goal from Oliver Norwood's perfectly delivered free-kick against Ukraine. The goal put Ireland 1-0 up early in the second half in a must win match.
On a stormy night in Lyon the Boys in Green put in a memorable performance to eventually win 2-0 and give themselves every chance of qualification into the knockout stages. The second goal came from Niall McGinn in the 96th minute, the latest ever goal in the Championships history. This was largely due to the fact that both teams had to leave the field of play for two minutes when large hail stones were falling in the stormy weather.
The title of the book “Kings of Lyon” is taken from the BBC Radio 5 Live commentary by Joel Taggart and also many of the Irish newspapers ran this as their headline.
