Full description

Beautiful little painted jewellery box in a Japanese style. This would look fabulous on a ladies or gents dresser to keep small items in like earrings and cufflinks. I had such fun making this and adding all the special details.

First I painted the plain wooden box red, then I applied the copper leaf. Then I used a special method to transfer the vintage image of a dragonfly to the box. I then applied splatters of paint to create an aged look before finishing with layers of varnish and crackle glaze, then a final coat of a dark wax to highlight the cracks and bring a wonderful aged patina to my piece. I then lined the inside of the box with authentic Japanese screen printed paper as the finishing touch.

The box sits at approx 2 and a half inches high and is 6 inches wide and 3 and a half inches deep.
