This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
I've called this Sea Colour Wheel.. I hope the reason is obvious from the colours I've used.. All shades of turquoise and sea green, colours of the sea.
I made the coordinating central nugget in my kiln, fused with lots of dichroic glass for interesting accents.
The nugget is then set this inside a segmented circle using some 16 different types of glass, lovely shades and textures covering the colour spectrum of the sea.
The circle is framed for strength and neatness with twisted wire.
This is 13cms in diameter and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher.
it is would make a wonderfully bright addition to any room.
It is totally individual and I am really pleased with it.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure they are unique.
I can never make another just the same as this, as my dichroic nuggets are unrepeatable.
The 5th photo shows this shape in 4 other seasonal colour schemes which I also make and sell here in my Folksy shop..
My fused glass dichroic nuggets, made in my microwave hotpot kiln, are great fun to make but the dichroic glass I use is very expensive. I guard it like gold dust. I love opening the kiln when the fusing is complete as I never know quite what I will have made.
