Ultramarine blue was originally extracted from the rare semi-precious stone lapis lazuli, which is the colourful stone featured in these earrings. This colour was used to decorate the vaults of churches all over Europe in the Middle Ages, evoking the colour of the heavens to the worshipers below. The Quartz briolette drops reminded me strongly of raindrops, which in turn inspired me to create these earrings based on the idea of drops of rain falling from a blue summer sky

Full description
Stunning marine blue natural lapis lazuli with clear crystal quartz drops to creating a dazzling pair of earrings. The lapis beads are a particularly intense shade of blue that in times past was said to evoke the heavens. These beads are flecked with golden pyrite too. The large quartz briolet drops are a natural gemstone and are in fact a clear version of amethyst and make an affordable substitute for diamond, the March birthstone. I have used my own hand made sterling silver findings to create these earrings which come beautifully presented in their own gift box. Each Earring measures 45 mm or 1 3/4" in length
