This stunning Dream Catcher has been carefully handmade using vintage ribbons and beads, recycled materials and cruelty free feathers and features a Rainforest Jasper central crystal.

Dream Catchers are thought to have originated with the Native American Ojibwe people who had an ancient legend about the Spider Woman, known as Asibikaashi who took care of the children and the people on the land. As the people spread across North America it became difficult for Asibikaashi to reach all the children, so the mothers and grandmothers would weave magical spider webs for the children, using willow hoops and sinew, or cordage made from plants and decorate these with sacred feathers and beads.

The Ojibwe believed that these dream catchers changed people’s dreams as the web would catch and hold any harmful or bad thoughts and only allow good thoughts to enter the sleepers mind and dreams. Bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day and good dreams would pass through and slide down the feathers to the sleeper.

The central hoop is approx 12.5cm/5" and the overall length is approx 45cm/17".

As with all our handmade items, this dream catcher is made with love and intention. We select materials to compliment the 100% cruelty free feathers we use, something which is very important to us.
