I have taught sewing and toy making workshops for a long time. It is such a pleasure to see children, and adults, create something from their imagination as they learn a few basic techniques. I have decided to make some of my simple designs available in kit form online so more little needlewomen can enjoy them. They make a lovely gift between generations or for a friend who likes to make things…
The kit is also handy to have around for those “I’m bored” moments of the holidays!

A kit to make a lovely little robin decoration for some homemade Christmas Holiday fun. There are several variations including both shown here.
Make it before Christmas to decorate your home; give it as a gift, embroidered by you or as a kit, or use it for some quiet enjoyment over the holiday.
The kit contains everything needed except scissors, which are required only for cutting threads.
This is a good starter project for this fun style of embroidery, with quick and effective results. Using just a couple of basic stiches you can transform gingham fabric into a richly textured piece of artwork.
Sometimes known as ‘depression lace’ this style of embroidery has its roots with creative pioneer women; using what they had to hand to beautify their clothes and surroundings…a little bit of recycled history for you to try.
I have used this kit in workshops with good results for both adults and children. Even experienced needlewomen sometimes enjoy a novelty or something or all put together, ready for them to enjoy. looks great just stitched but there are optional decorations; a bobble and some sequins for seasonal bling.
Included is a length of ribbon to trim the hoop as a finished decoration-or you can use the fabric to make something-such as a card, scent sachet or pincushion, and reuse the hoop.
For the festive season a length of red/silver hologram wrapping foil is included so you can gift wrap it after checking it !
