Playing with Madder dye which is derived from the swollen roots of the Madder plant, a natural dye used traditionally to dye the red coats used by the British Army and cricket balls. It's a tricksy process (mordanting and dyeing linen can take up to 5 days) but the results are gorgeous

This listing is for one of these small notebooks which have been created using medieval bookbinding methods, with a touch of darning to create a knitted heart. I have hand dyed the leather and linen threads with Madder roots to create a range of soft red tones.
Measurements: height 10.8 cm, width 8 cm and depth 1.5 cm ( h: 4 1/4 ", w: 3 1/8", d:1/2")
Each book contains 108 pages, of assorted recycled/ scavenged papers.
