Full description
This gorgeous necklace has been hand made in my home workshop from solid sterling silver.
A large fossilised sharks tooth which is fifty million years old (quite young as fossils go!) has been used to create this wonderful, unisex piece.
The fossil was used to make a mould in a type of sand medium, known as delft clay. This has a fine texture and exactly reproduces the shape and texture of the original item. The original fossil sharks tooth was then removed before pouring molten sterling silver into the mould. After further work, filing and polishing, the finished cast is ready. The original texture of the tooth can still be seen - please see photos.
A long tube bail of sterling silver has been added to the pendant and an 18 inch open curb chain threaded through making this ready to wear.
Hall marked at the London Assay Office, the pendant bears my unique makers mark.
The pendant and chain weigh 14.91g of sterling silver, making this a substantial piece suitable for a man or lady to wear - the perfect surfers gift perhaps?
The pendant measures 32mm x 25mm approx.
