Precious black opal from Ethiopia has been cut into gorgeous and fiery little beads. Bright flashes of green, blue, orange and red just leap from these natural solid opals.
The necklace has been created entirely from these little hand cut opal beads, separated by little sterling silver lentil shaped beads.
The focal point of this necklace is a hand cast solid sterling silver star anise pendant, created in my home workshop from an actual star anise spice. This method of delft clay casting preserves all the details of the actual item being used to create the design. The pendant is solid sterling silver and is a good silver weight.
Above the star anise, I have set a gorgeous Australian opal cabochon. This shines with all the colours of the rainbow, with the back ground colour being a deep blue colour. The opal is a natural doublet - where the mother rock is still behind the opal layer above. The opal measures 9x7mm including the hand made setting.
The necklace has been traditionally hand knotted and the stones gently graduate from 4- 2mm in diameter. The focal pendant measures 22x21mm approx, including the opal setting. The necklace measures 18 inches in length approx. Fully hall marked at the London Assay Office. It bears my unique makers mark.
An unusual, one of a kind necklace, perfect as a gift for an October birthday.
The necklace will come beautifully gift boxed, ready to be presented as a gift, via Royal Mail Special Delivery.
