Description

Y Draig Goch is welsh for the Red Dragon, an apt name for a mythical inspired piece.

In the stories of Mabinogion, a red and a white dragon flew over the lands creating trouble. The reigning king at the time king Llud consulted with his brother Llefelys in France, his wise brother suggested to dig a big pit in the centre of Britain and fill it with mead. King Llud agreed with the suggestion and dug the pit. The red and the white dragon saw this watering hole and drank from it, little did they know it was a trap and fortunately they fell in. Trapped, King Llud then imprisons them for all eternity.

This piece is all about the dragon, with green faceted jade drops, charred lava stone, fired garnet and bloodstone also know as dragon blood jasper.

This is currently at a length of 18 inches, if you wish to have it longer or shorter then feel free to specify in the comments box at checkout .

This necklace will be finished with sterling silver findings and a sterling silver extension chain.

All necklaces are packaged in a linen pouch and placed in a pillow box, all items are dispatched first class recorded delivery.

If you require changes to particular piece or wish for a completely bespoke necklace please feel free to get in touch.

Inspiration

Carreg Las Snowdonia is the result of an absolute passion for geology, rocks and minerals. Ever since i was a child, i was drawn to the rock. I used to fill my pockets with interesting looking pebbles from walks on the beach and then write off several washing machines by leaving them in there. I was lucky enough to spend my childhood in Dorset, living on the Jurassic coast. Striking gold i managed to kick start my career in the coolest store in Weymouth, Fossil Beach. It sold fossils, rocks and silver jewellery. It sold all the materials to make your own gemstone jewellery.I am now still all about the rocks, by day I am full time Geoscientist but by night i am an avid crafter and mountain biker. The necklaces are themselves a celebration of earth, all the pieces are natural and are the result of our active planet. These pieces are a labour of love and i hope they give you as much joy as I have experienced making them.
