Item details

A ring sling in shades of blues and greens. The yarn was spun and dyed in Yorkshire, England. The fabric designed by myself in Wales, woven at Melin Teifi in Carmarthenshire Wales and the sling was made by myself at home in rural Carmarthenshire. The fabric is pure merino lambswool in twill weave. The fabric weight is 280gm2. The sling is suitable to carry children from age 0-3. The rings are manufactured specifically for baby carrying and are pull tested to 250lb. They are certified lead, nickle, heavy metal and toxin free.

Available in sizes;
small ( 1.8 -2m) to fit ladies dress size 8-10 approx ,
medium (2m) to fit size 10- 14
large ( 2.2m- 2.25m) to fit size 14- 18

Please specify which size you require when ordering.

Larger sizes can be made to order.

Hand wash and condition gently in warm water, line dry, cool iron.

The sling comes with written instructions.

My first inspiration is my children. I have carried all four of them as babies, in many different kinds of baby carriers and slings. Ring slings and woven wraps are my favourite. Ring slings are so quick and convenient to use. It is such a joy to keep baby close and happy, and have hands free to do other things.

There is a long tradition of baby carrying here in Wales. The Welsh traditionally carried their babies in the woollen nursing shawl ( siol fagu). When I carry my baby in a sling, old Welsh women often talk to me of their memories of the siol fagu. The siol fagu is still made at the mill where my fabric is woven.

My inspiration for the fabric design is the colours of the sea and the sky at Poppit Sands, in Pembrokeshire on a beautiful sunny day. I tried to capture those colours in the fabric.
