I have always been fascinated by the seasons and I loved the idea of a series of witches, each one representing a different season, with familiars and natural features that make each one stand out from another.

For summer, making the hat was the best (and most time consuming) bit, but coming up with traditional summer familiars was quite tricky. I couldn't think of anything to put in her basket - until I had the idea of a swan and three cygnets.

Full description

"Summer is the sweetest season, languid, lazy and warm.

It’s a time of growth and strength and sunshine and heat.

Summer is the season of power."

This is the Witch of Summer, dressed in orange and yellow and bursting with warmth. Her hat is decorated with the wildflowers of the season -- sunflowers, foxgloves, buttercups, daisies and poppies -- and has also been visited by an array of nectar-loving insects -- bees, butterflies and a ladybird feeding on (invisible) aphids.

Accompanying her are her familiars: two swallows, perched upon her arm and a mute swan, keeping a close eye on her three cygnets, two of which are in the basket.

Lastly, she is completed by her broom, which no self-respecting witch should be without.

My witches tend to vary a little in height, but are never taller than 10 cm (4 inches). They are usually between 7-9 cm, with a broomstick to match.

Note: This is NOT a toy. Polymer clay is fairly durable, but it will break if dropped. Finer details, such as the flowers on the hat and the swallow tails, may break off under rough handling. Glue will fix may things, but a bit of care works wonders.

This listing is for ONE Summer Witch, made to order as shown (which will take 1-2 weeks), and I am willing to customise various details upon request. For other seasons please see my Folksy shop.

Thank you for looking!
