I had so many ideas about what I was going to do with this scaffolding plank, but the more I looked at the natural weathering and patina, the more I liked it exactly as it was. So I cut the most weathered piece out, gave it a good scrubbing with a steel bristled brush, and then varnished it generously. To me, it speaks for itself exactly as it is.

Section of weathered scaffold board, scrubbed and varnished to hang on a wall.
There is a small piece of timber across the back. It was what hooked the board to the scaffold frame. It can now be used to hang the board from hooks/nails.
The metal strip of the type found on each end of a scaffold plank can still be found on one end of the board. It has deliberately been left in place, to anchor the piece in its history.
