I acquired three of these chairs from the family that had owned them from new. They have survived a family of boisterous boys who are now men in their forties. Their parents have recently died and they are selling off their belongings. They had planned to restore these chairs themselves for use in their own homes, but with their own careers, homes and family commitments, as well as disposing of their parents' possessions, they've reluctantly accepted that they're not going to have time.

Enter your friendly Upsycho. In deference to the sentimental value and the personal history of these chairs, I have steered away from anything outrageous or adventurous. Instead, I have remained true to the original style.

Inevitably, there was significant wear and tear. I have sanded away most of that but have deliberately retained evidence of their history and real life usage by real children.
