Beautiful, red, Commedia Dell'Arte Pantalone mask completely handmade from start to finish.
Perfect for masquerade party, festivals, as a gift or to hang on your wall.
Each of our masks are created using traditional Venetian paper mache techniques.
Starting with a sculpt in clay of the chosen mask design, we then cover this with liquid plaster which hardens to create a negative mould. Then, using Carta Lana paper (an Italian wool based paper) and a glue paste we layer the paper in the mould and leave to dry.
Once dry the mask is then ready to trim and sand to a smooth finish with a layer of gesso added before painting, decorating and then finishing with a protective wax and ribbons for wearing. Each mask can take up to ten days to make from start to finish.
