Child's pine chair. Solid, sturdy and in good repair.

It has been given a makeover in bright orange and royal blue with a gold asymmetrical angled stripe of gold leaf. The whole chair has been waxed for protection.

In one picture, you can see a 60cm (24") metal ruler leaning up against the chair for size reference.

I was collecting a Vintage Stag Furniture dresser (watch this space!) from a house in a nearby town. As always, I got chatting about what I do. The lady had a lightbulb moment and offered me two of these little chairs her son had recently outgrown. I had been watching back episodes of Money for Nothing on telly and was inspired by Jay Blades' approach to painting chairs, so the idea for the colour blocks was planted. I love blue and orange together, so that bit was really a no-brainer (just wait until you see what I've got planned for the other one!). I hadn't really made up my mind what to do with the masked line between the two colour blocks, but it was stewing in the back of my mind when I found myself wandering down the aisle with the gold leaf in Hobbycraft. I had to give it a go. Et voila!
