'GoMA Red'
The Gallery of Modern Art. Situated within the heart of Glasgow's Royal Exchange Square.
This famous neoclassical building, built over 230 years ago, has been used as a Tobacco Lord’s townhouse, a bank, a library and now currently as the home for the city’s contemporary art collection.
It’s proportionally smaller but arguably more famous neighbour, the Duke and his traffic cone hat, stands proudly by the entrance of the museum.
This was sketched during one of Glasgow’s many wet, dull winter mornings, so I used the majority of dense colours on show as the main palette. To add some movement and warmth, I’ve incorporated a streak of bold red and some gold yellow whilst ensuring that the colour details of the Duke’s hat is not lost to the elements.
