I hand dye the majority of my fabrics. To hand dye my fabrics, firstly I have to wash the fabric and dry it. Then I mix up the dyes individually and add then to the fabric separately. The dyes will merge into one another over the next 6 hours or so that I have to leave the dyes in order for them to take to the fabric. I usually do this overnight so that I am not tempted to look before they are done. I rinse out the fabric to get rid of the excess dye and then wash it again in the washing machine. Then depending on the weather is will line dry or tumble dry the fabric. It is now ready for me to work with.

This is a handmade machine stitched textile flower pod, made with hand dyed Egyptian cotton and silk fabrics. Made from layers of fabric and plenty of free machine embroidery and this makes this quite a stiff textile vessel.
Based on a flower, there are leaves hanging on the gold threads, it is 5 sided and has 5 feet, it opens up slightly when you pull up the centre coil towards the leaves, just enough to store away you secret treasures, your valuable or delightful little objects.
Size approximately 20cm x 10cm
