Felted on both sides to give a soft lightweight scarf, this scarf has been made using a nuno felting process. Very fine layers of natural white merino wool have been nuno felted to both sides of a silk chiffon scarf. A poppy decoration has been added using a tulle net fabric prior to felting. During felting the woollen fibres trap the net fixing it to the scarf. The poppy decoration is on one side of the scarf only, the reverse has been left plain.
Nuno felting is a process whereby woollen fibres are made to migrate through the underlying silk fabric and bind with it to produce a new material. The resulting scarf is super soft, lightweight and drapes beautifully. Due to the very fine woollen layers this scarf is very sheer.
This dress length scarf measures approximately 120cm x 37cm (47" x 14.5") and would make a stunning addition to any outfit. It is a dress length scarf designed to wear draped around the neck, it is will not wrap around the neck twice. The use of natural fibres makes this scarf warm in winter yet cool in summer.
The scarf is provided gift boxed in a decorated, sturdy kraft box making it a lovely gift for any occasion.
Hand wash in warm water, do not wring. roll in a towel to remove excess water, reshape while wet and press with a cool (wool/silk setting) iron.
