Description

A handmade cover for your large book or Bible. Made from a medium weight Silk Omeshi, which is a very study woven silk used for Kimono in Japan. The Temple and landscape is woven into the silk after the main fabric has been made. The plain navy blue has a slight sheen and there is a subtle zig zag woven into it.

SIZE:
Suitable for a medium to large hardback books measuring (when closed) approximately:
Up to 6.5 inch wide (16.5 cm) wide
Up to 9.75 inch high (25 cm) high
Up to 2 inch thick (5 cm) thick
Special sizes can be made on request

The fabric for the book cover has been cut from a bolt of Silk Omeshi meant for Kimono but was never used.
The book cover fastens with an elastic loop and button and has a ribbon bookmark.
Lined with a soft Yukata cotton, again from an unused bolt of Kimono cotton, with a pattern of fans and chrysanthemums.

CLEANNG:
Spot clean only.
Lay flat to dry away from direct heat.
When dry a light press only with a warm iron.
Please do NOT machine wash or machine dry.

Inspiration

The silhouette of the temple roof looks very dramatic against the pinks, blues, mauve and yellow of the evening sky at sunset. You can also see the outline of pine trees and bushes set off against the skyline.

Lined with a soft Yukata cotton, again from an unused bolt of Kimono cotton, with a pattern of fans and chrysanthemums.
Both fabrics are vintage and date from the period 1970's to 1980's.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
