I am constantly inspired by all the wonderful colours and designs of HarrisTweed. When this one arrived from Harris in the Outer Hebrides I just couldn't wait to start on a wreath. I've made two so far, one (already off to its new home) teamed with plain lilac and this one, all in the check. Both made me think of a heather moor, but at different times of year. I love Harris Tweed!

This lovely Harris Tweed wreath is made from a gorgeous green and blue check with a pretty lilacy pink stripe as part of the check. The colours conjure up the Scottish landscape and this is a truly beautiful Harris Tweed. The wreath is backed with navy velvet and comes with a green velvet ribbon loop hanger.
The wreath is made using a traditional rag rug making technique called proggy. The strips of Harris Tweed are woven into a hessian base which is then sewn onto the frame. I think that this makes the wreath feel very sturdy and substantial and helps the tweed form a nice thick pile. The navy velvet backing and the luxurious Harris Tweed make this a beautifully textured decorative wreath.
These wreathes, handmade in Scotland, look great on a wall or door but look just as good sitting on your mantelpiece or dresser. They are also a great and affordable way to add a bit of Harris Tweed to your decor and work well with both traditional and contemporary styles. This one has a very Scottish look to it.
The wreath comes with the Harris Tweed authentication label.
Size: 30cm frame diameter with the tweed extending a little beyond this.
