Years ago I bought a similar but larger warmer from a high street shop. It's lovely for muscle aches, but too large to tuck into a pocket on a chilly morning. So I made my own. My son doesn't like his to be heated, but when he has an earache he presses it to his ear to help him sleep, as he likes the feeling of the buckwheat against his achey ear.

Full description

Made with buckwheat and lavender, these all cotton hand warmers are the perfect size to tuck into your pockets on a chilly morning.

Each hand warmer is approx 4 inches (10 cm) square. Heat in the microwave for not more than 30 seconds, give a shake to distribute the heat, and they will stay nice and warm for around 10 minutes - and will smell lovely thanks to the lavender.

I chose to use buckwheat instead of the more commonly used (and cheaper) rice. It doesn't hold the heat for quite as long (around 12 minutes compared to 15, in my home tests), but buckwheat doesn't smell when microwaved, has a lovely texture (less "crunchy" than rice), and because the buckwheat is less brittle, these hand warmers should last longer.

Please specify which pattern you would like in your message: elf, reindeer, stockings or deer. I'm sorry, but the butterflies have been sold.

As always, be very careful if giving to children to use!

Delivered by Christmas! If you order by the end of the day December 20, I will post first class Royal Mail on December 21, the last posting day for delivery before Christmas.
