An unusual square shaped freshwater pearl in natural pink floats at the end of a square oriental style tendril hammered and shaped by hand from sterling silver wire in my West Sussex studio. The pearls were chosen especially for this design for their unusual square shape and because of their exceptional lustre and interesting texture. These earrings measure 60 mm or 2 3/4" in length but the airy design makes them light-weight and so easy to wear. Perfect for party season to complement that little black sheath dress. As always, I have only made one pair of these elegant earrings.

I recently inherited one of my grandmother's occasional tables. My grandmother was widely traveled and lived in many countries, including Hong Kong, where this table was made. It is richly carved with a country scene of mountains, houses and cherry blossom with people farming the landscape. The whole scene is bordered by square S shaped tendrils. I spend hours gazing at the scene as a child and seeing the table again inspired me to create these earrings using pearls that also originate in China.
