When looking for punching cradles for our own use we found they were either very flimsy or very bulky so set about making a quality, strong item which is still light weight and easy to use and store.

This lightweight, easy to use punching cradle is used with an awl to make holes in the fold of pages (signature) for sewing into a text block.
Made from 6mm MDF and measuring 330mm overall, with a little over 300mm between end stops, this compact jig is perfect for A4 bookbinding (folded A3).
We make these ourselves, here in the Time to Create workshop in Glorious Gloucestershire and we also use them for our own notebook production and our bookbinding courses.
